Competitors Brief
SWIM COURSE:
Course maps will be on the website. Those doing the 100m or the 250m swim must exit the pond at the stairs where the marshals will be there to help you
CYCLE COURSE:
There will be a Lead Vehicle to leading the first cyclist out to ensure that they are taken on to the correct course. There will also be a vehicle following the last cyclist to ensure they get back safely and also to release the marshals.
Please note that Ipods, mp3 players or any musical devices that require you to use earplugs are not permitted on the cycle course.
Traffic Management and or marshals will be located on every corner. Road rules apply at all times, do not cross the centre line and ensure you stay to the left at all times. There are no road closures so please ensure you listen to the marshal’s instructions. Please do not have your supporters come out on the cycle course to support you, as this would be dangerous for everyone including yourself.
RUN COURSE:
This is well marked but again you must ensure you know the course. There will be two aid stations providing water only at the Westshore hotel turn around point for the 3km Hikoi and then another at the main transition area on the domain. There will be a person on a mountain bike leading out the first walker/runner and again follow the final walker/runner on the course.
There are 4 courses for the Hikoi, magic moment, 500m, 1km, and 3km. Once you have completed your Hikoi you can enter the finish line chute.
COMPLETION (Finish line):
When you are nearing completion of your part of the event you must walk around the transition area past all the whanau/support and in to the finish line where you will be given your medal. We strongly encourage your whanau to present you with your IRONMAORI KAUMATUA MEDAL.
